Early 19th Century Welsh Stick Chair or 'Back Stool'
Height 66 cm
Width 41 cm
Depth 37 cm
A wonderfully simple early 19th century chair in sycamore and ash, with a lovely historic iron repair under the seat. We love old repairs on primitive furniture. They speak to how precious an object was over many generations and that it was valued enough to repair rather than replace. This chair also gives a great insight into the history of primitive seating, showing the evolution from simple stools to chairs with a basic back. It’s got a beautiful shape and is a fantastic and highly collectible piece of Welsh vernacular furniture.
