This attractive meteorite is more than four billion years old and was once part of the core of an asteroid that broke apart somewhere between Jupiter and Mars. A portion of this was pushed towards Earth and made impact over 4000 years ago, in the Chaco region of Argentina, forming a 1350 sq kilometre crater named Campo Del Cielo (“Valley of the Sky”). This particular Campo meteorite has a beautifully smooth and shiny surface where it’s edges have been softened during it’s entry to the earth’s atmosphere.
