Early 18th Century Welsh Stick Chair
Height 78 cm
Width 69 cm
Depth 40.5 cm
An exceptional early 18th Century primitive Welsh stick chair. Everything you could want from this kind of chair - fantastic colour, wonderful unique shape, and lots a character. It has a thick oak slab seat with ash arms, legs and spindles. It appears to have been built with three legs but adapted to four very soon after it was made. It’s joyful to see the thinking at work. Has a pleasing lean to one side from centuries of use.
Truly a work of art and rare piece of Welsh vernacular furniture.
